Why FOIA?

The Freedom of Information Act allows individuals and organizations to request access to federal agency records or information. All agencies of the United States government are required to disclose records upon receiving a written request for them, except for those records that are protected from disclosure by the nine exemptions and three exclusions of the FOIA. This right of access is enforceable in court.

The IBBA files requests under the Freedom of Information Act in order to obtain official information and documentation on policies, regulations, and decisions from the USDA or other federal agencies . This documentation is essential to the IBBA in ensuring that policies and regulations are being established with scientific evidence as the basis.
