| Much of the valuable work of the IBBA goes on quietly in the background. Just occasionally, however, it is nice to be able to blow our own trumpet. Has the IBBA brought good fortune to you or to someone you know? Please let us know and we will publish it here! |

| Date: Wed, 7 May 2003 From: The Breens Subject: Off topic - Group Value Hi, I am not the outspoken one of the family here (you probably know whom I'm talking about!), but I know how valuable this group has been to my husband and I. I read most of the emails coming through and they are so incredible. In recent days Mercedes' questions have been everything on the tip of my tongue, ours also being a first year enterprise. The responses, for these questions and past ones, have been so informative. I am amazed at the willingness of the experienced "elders" to share information, the generosity of spirit in this newsgroup, and the friendship that seems to arise with others we've never seen, as well as the integrity to establish an organization (IBBA) that upholds high standards of butterfly farming. Though I may not write into the mailing list, I speak to my customers proudly of our affiliation with the IBBA. I wish to express my deepest respect and gratitude to the founding members of this organization, for your vision, hope and desire to share your gifts and talents and call together like minded people. I appreciate all the others who have become a part of it since then. You have created a magnificent association of value and principle for butterfly breeding, with a wealth and breadth of backround, be it raising the butterflies, photographing them, innovative new inventions such as the miraculous Jacob's artificial diet (a blessing for us northerners), not to mention the expansive business outlet for all this. Each member offers so very much, and I truly treasure the education that flows through my email (not to mention the comic relief...!). When we embarked on this trade last fall, it was a dream. Richard's passion (well, one of them, anyway) is insects, butterflies being a part of that. It has truly been a challenge, but the support from IBBA members has absolutely balanced the difficulties and stresses that come with a new experience. You have all been a blessing to us. I received this message this morning. It immediately made me think of each and every one who has written in this list, which prompted this far-longer-than-expected letter. It speaks about friends. It describes perfectly how you all appear to me. Many, many thanks, "Mother Teresa once wrote that loneliness is the most terrible poverty. Friendship, then, must be the most prized of riches. Friends root for each other; they cheer for each other and cry for each other. For our friends no favor is too much of an imposition, no question too trivial to ponder. Genuine friendship is uplifting, a source of joy in good times, and source of strength in challenging ones." |

Date: Mon, 14 Apr 2003 Hi All IBBA members, This is one of those kind of silly, "gee, you guys are great" messages. I've only been a member of this group for a short time but I just wanted to say that it is one of the best groups I've ever joined! My sister and I just started our business this year. She has some experience raising butterflies, and lots of farming experience, and I have some experience on the business side, so we decided to combine our talents and make a go of it. I soon figured out how much work it is to start your own business! This group, with all its humor, resources, willingness to share experiences, and just general support of each other, has been a huge help. I feel privileged to have the opportunity to join, and I hope, after we get a bit of experience under our belt, to be able to help others as you guys have been helping us. Especially in the trying times that we're in right now around the world, it's very refreshing to be part of a group where everyone is interested and supportive of everyone else's success. This really is a great group of people! Hats off to ya,
I'm with Shelly! This is a great group of people. I look forward to reading what everyone is up to... planting and caring.... Awesome. I am also new at this, and I love them butterflies. I look forward to getting experience under my belt. All of you are quite inspiring! Love, The Butterfly Lady |

The brochures and care instructions have been a tremendous help. Thanks to everyone that contributes to this association. I use the information all the time. Thanks everyone, ----- Original Message ----- To: IBBA Mailing List There are now a number of items, from video clips and photos to brochures and other documents, that are available for members to download. Most links are on the Members Download Links page in the Members Section. There has been little feedback from members about this, and we would be interested to know if you have found these items useful. |

| To: IBBA Mailing List Date: March 19 2003 From: John Fazzini Subject: Welcome! Hi Lee, You are in for a fun time. We at El Bosque Nuevo are only in our second year of membership and I am still finding out what many of the members offer in the way of services and products. However, I have made some really great friends through this association. Everyone that I have become acquainted with will go out of their way to help you. If I have any regrets at all about the IBBA, it would have to be my own initial reluctance to really try to get to know as many members as possible. Jump in with both feet! You will enjoy this association. Best regards, |

| Two messages posted to welcome new members:
Date: Fri, 14 Mar 2003 Nice to meet you Letitia! You came to the right place! The IBBA has really helped me tremendously, and as a 'newbie' to butterfly breeding (starting my second year) I can't imagine having come even this far without the support and networking here. Sounds like you are a VERY busy girl! Good luck with all your endevours, and hope to meet you at the next convention! Peace, PS my ultimate dream is to have a butterfly farm which people can come to tour also. People just LOVE butterflies! :)
Date: Thu, 13 Mar 2003 Welcome Yvette and Letitia! I'm a member less than a year, so I know I have a lot to learn from this great group of people. You can count on support for all your questions and needs on a case by case basis. Richard Breen
Date: Tue, 25 Feb 2003 16:20:38 EST Thanks for the info! I'm using stock from two suppliers to start my PLs. You'll see many questions from me, I'm sure! I sure get my moneys worth out of my dues for that alone. Edith Smith
Date: Tue, 25 Feb 2003 07:35:09 -0500 There's more to the IBBA than the mentor pages. - There's a group of people who work as a team. - There's much more.... Mona Miller |

I have been reviewing IBBA mail for one week and have been truly "WOWed" by each of the persons that have posted. Reading Terry Terbush's post compelled me to express that I am enamored by all who have contributed within the last week. I am so very excited about joining the IBBA!!! Tiffany

She is a powerhouse; we are so very lucky to have her--with her unlimited source of energy and passion. Thank you Linda! Melanie

Date: Sat, 10 Aug 2002 20:03:41 -0600 Hi Elise, Thanks for the heads up. I have seen the peat pellet trays you're speaking of and was considering giving them a try. I'm sure glad I decided to ask my new IBBA friends for advice. A lot of pitfalls can be avoided by using the knowledge of the members of IBBA. I wouldn't even attempt to start this business if I hadn't found this group to be so kind, thoughful, and helpful. I thank you all for your help and hope to meet you at next years Conference. Can't swing it financially this year. Carol |
