Monarch Watch Tag & Release

A Tag & Release event
for neighborhood kids

September, 2000

The event was a photo opt a friend and I put together
and the kids were more than willing to help. She needed to learn about her camera and I needed some good "class" type pictures. We had a number of Painted Lady & Monarch butterflies and were able to catch and tag a number of Monarchs as well. We were using a neighbor's garden as all my flowers had been depleted as food source in flight cages! Consequently, the neighbors got into the act also. It was a lovely day and the kids are still talking about it. Their parents even enjoyed it!
