Charge: Strategize, Develop and Implement a Marketing Plan to promote our industry.  Develop slogans and ads to promote the concept of releasing butterflies at ceremonial events.  Target areas should consider all global members of the IBBA.

Bylaws Committee

Charge:  Periodic review of Bylaws to monitor effectiveness for IBBA.  When requested, provide intent of and/or interpretation of Bylaws.  In addition, this committee will make recommendations and/or receive recommendations for amendments or revisions to the Bylaws.

Education Committee

Dan Staehr

Charge:   Will offer a variety of courses related to the business of butterfly breeding.  Facilitate educational courses by helping to arrange for course materials, instructors, and scheduling of classes.  Periodically survey the members for input on current and future course offerings to ascertain the educational needs of the organization.  Answer list serve questions related to educational courses or any education related questions.  Fix prices* for educational courses/materials and work with the treasurer to verify payments for these courses.  (*Prices will be discounted for IBBA members.)

Charge:  Recommend convention site, prepare and finalize educational programming as well as the proposed budget. Assume responsibility for all convention logistics. (Convention budget and contracts are subject to Board approval.)

Finance Committee

Charge: Be responsible for providing guidance and assistance to the Board in all aspects of fiscal management of the IBBA, Inc.  May oversee production and integration of committee and/or personnel budgets, assists with completion of requisite state and/or federal forms and annual returns/reports.

Industry Directory Committee

Charge: Plan, Develop and Produce a Comprehensive Industry Directory of those who rear Lepidoptera and sell related products.

International Members Committee

Charge:  The International Committee is charged with promoting butterfly breeding and releases under the same charter and code of practice as the United States (its charter country).  However it is recognized that each country has different butterfly laws, covering the capture of wild stock, breeding, releases, business issues and import and export.  The International Committee is an integral part of the IBBA and as such the committee will include one member of the IBBA Board of Directors.  It’s main aim will be to 1) Identify these countries’ specific issues 2) Address the needs and concerns specific to the IBBA’s members conducting business outside of the United States (its charter country), 3) Offer solutions to threats and support for opportunities. 4) Contribute to the success of the IBBA Worldwide.

Marketing Subcommittee:

Media Strategy

Charge: This Marketing Subcommittee would seek the best possible placements for the least possible costs to the IBBA.  Would work under the auspices of the Marketing/Campaign Committee.

Slogans/Logo Subcommittee

Charge: Be responsible for recommending slogans and possible Logo for the Marketing Campaign.

Website Development

Charge: Works under the guidance of Webmaster to recommended design changes and/or additions and deletions to the IBBA Website

Membership Committee

Charge: Welcomes new members and provides orientation packet. May assist with strategies to recruit new members.

Political Action and Strategic Planning Committee

Charge: Strategize, plan and implement action to protect and develop our industry.  Work directly with regulatory agencies to bring benefit to the industry with favorable legislation and policy making.  Work with the board of directors to determine course of action and plan activities that provide the highest benefit to the members for their dues money.  Coordinate and manage all activities necessary in working with regulatory and permitting agencies.

Keep permitting corner current.  This includes the Matrix showing where butterflies may be released and also includes the state ag official’s contacts list.

Scientific Research Committee Liaison


Charge:  Work with Harry Pavauulan to revise and edit and product a final revised copy of the IBBA Scientific Report.
